Video styles

How catalog workflows and image styles work — Discover, auto-select vs explicit picks, and what a style controls.

Last updated August 12, 2026

A video style is a complete creative format: structure, pacing, look, voice, and music. On the platform these are published catalog workflows (and, for stills, Style Catalog recipes) — not a separate /video-styles picker wired to a retired skillType API.

Browse them in Discover. Masthead Styles filters image-style workflows when those exist.

What a style controls

Each catalog workflow bundles:

  • Creative identity — UGC ad, cinematic trailer, explainer, commercial, music video, film, …
  • Format defaults — aspect, duration range, cut rhythm. Duration in your brief still wins.
  • Look — visual medium, grade, lighting; stills can pin a Style Catalog style_id.
  • Sound — narrator / music defaults when the spine includes them.
  • Quality contract — QC gates and (for ads) letter-perfect type where the spine requires it.

Auto-selection vs explicit picks

If you don’t pick a workflow, unbound Send is Decide-for-me: the matcher routes Video vs Images vs Audio from your brief and attachments. It will not silently spend on a catalog demo fill.

If you Try / Select a workflow from Discover, that graph is bound for the send. Style cards for Images Ad pin styleId + the static-ads spine.

A useful rule: browse and Try when the format matters (“I want a movie trailer”); let Decide-for-me work when the content is what matters.

Styles vs your own look

Your prompt can always shape the look inside a bound workflow. Explicit direction in the brief wins where it conflicts with a default (for example a “live-action” instruction on a normally-stylized spine).
